In 1994, Chrissie Rucker had a vision: to create a company that specialised in stylish, white homewares, combining edited collections of high quality, beautifully practical products with affordable prices. What started as a 12-page mail-order brochure has grown into a multi-channel, international business, yet our love of crafting impeccably stylish products, principally in white, has never wavered. In 2017, we were joined by CEO Mary Homer. She now drives the commercial side of the business, leading The White Company's growth and ensuring we continue to be a global destination for effortless, stylish living.
"The White Company wouldn't be what it is today without all the amazing people we have in our business – it is the team that make the dream become a reality."
"I’m so proud to lead a team of such passionate and inspirational people and their hard work and dedication inspires me every day. Our people are our most important asset and integral to our success."
We all share the pride of working here. To keep it shining, it takes real passion. It takes resourcefulness and imagination. It takes dedication from everyone and when we find that spark, something truly beautiful happens.
We want to make authentic, positive changes within our business, and provide educational opportunities for our employees that create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all. Our mission is to create a culture of transparency that celebrates our differences, where everyone is included, making us stronger together.
Ensuring everyone has a voice and feels safe to express themselves.
Providing resources and materials that further our education.
A conscious and consistent approach to the language we use.
Committing to regular reporting and open, honest conversations about our progress.
What began life as a 12-page mail-order brochure has become one of the UK's fastest-growing multichannel retailers.
Having tried and failed to find well-designed, good-quality white bed linen at a reasonable price, Chrissie invests her savings to launch The White Company with a 12-page brochure from her boyfriend’s spare room.
At The White Company, we value our people for being passionate, dedicated and always going the extra mile; that’s why we reward a job well done with great benefits and competitive salaries.
